So far, the off season has gone as well as I could have hoped for. Training wise, I took some much needed down time after Ironman 70.3 Austin in October. My family and I went to Colorado for a ski trip. I absolutely love snowboarding and Colorado so this was a great distraction from training. It was my first time snowboarding at Copper Mountain. Even though the temperature was below zero, it was still amazing. The next two days I spent at Breckenridge. Breck is one of my favorite towns in Colorado and the new Peak 6 was fun to snowboard down. Since then, I slowly started building back my fitness and I am now in full swing preparing for my first race of the season in Florida in just 5 weeks. It will be my first ever draft legal triathlon, and I am anxious to see how it goes. As you may already know, I have joined the Every Man Jack Triathlon team and I’m excited to be part of such a great group of athletes. Every Man Jack is an all natural grooming line for men–hair, body, skin, and shave–and it is a fantastic product. Be sure to check them out if you haven’t already done so. The EMJ Triathlon team is having a training camp in Palm Springs, CA in two weeks and I’m very excited to attend and meet many of my teammates. It will be my first time attending a training camp and should be a great experience with a lot of quality training. This winter I have also started working with a local bike shop, Elite Cycling. Elite Cycling is definitely my go-to bike shop. They have the Retul bike fit system set up in their shop and everything you could possibly need for swim, bike, run, or nutrition.
My race schedule for 2014 has been updated. I plan to start updating my blog more frequently now that my season is underway. Hopefully, I’ll keep them shorter, like this one, so you won’t have to read long posts like my race reports.
